Know Thyself Edition
6. The Fiery Furnaces, I’m a big music geek at heart, I enjoy reading about guitars being miked and fed through synthesizers. I like liner notes in CDs. The riff in this track was created by a fellow music geek, it just oozes originality.
5. Los Campesinos!, Still feeding my inner geek with the “in studio video”, this is such a great pop song. Living in Toronto has his advantages, I got off the subway after work one day and one of my friends was there on her way to see these guys. I really wish I hadn’t been so tired, I’m sure these guys rock live. Kittens, unicorns and rainbows, oh my…
4. The Wombats, These guys are Brits who sing about dancing to Joy Division and moving to New York. I especially like the “this is no Bridget Jones” chorus.
3. The Black Lips, Vice records has been releasing some quality bands lately. I’ve been a big fan of these guys for a while now and this video reminds me of the L.S.D. scene in Easy Rider.
2. The Clientele, This is an odd one, these guys are actually bigger in the States than they are at home in England. This video is actually from a completely different song by a completely different band, the video is from “A New Chance” by Tough Alliance. You might want to check them out too.
1. JazzAbesK, Turkish jazz students covering one of my favourite Morphine songs. It doesn’t get much better or random than this, enjoy.
