I’ll Be Waiting Forever Edition

6. Melo M and Intars Busulis – “Ghostbusters Theme”, Every once in a while the Pix will just put something up because it’s fun. My friend’s band, Jay Spectre, do a great encore cover version of this 80’s classic, but they haven’t recorded it yet. This group is Latvian and they have had less than 500 hits on their MySpace, so help them out…make them feel better about themselves.

5. Gerald Genty – “Plaire”, I’ve waxed poetic about my love of French pop music before, but it’s hard to find good, new music out of France. I end up relying on the old faithful artists most of the time. The song is really pretty, but the video is a little predictable. If you understand French, you’ll love this guy’s wordplay.

4. Willoughby – “Frankenstein”, If Elliot Smith had played for burlesque dancers, this is how I imagine it would have sounded. Most of this bands’ songs sound like love letters to people who will never understand them, like Frankenstein. Love the suits and the dog.

3. Throw Me The Statue – “Lolita”, This clip is from a brilliant series that the Pix has showcased before. Bands get filmed just out and about in very natural settings. I think the song is shorter than the setup time, but it’s a pretty sweet pop song, so it’s worth it. Also, members of the band play in a Liz Phair tribute band, hilarious!

2. Brightblack Morning Light – “Hologram Buffalo”, This isn’t really a video, it’s more of a promo. The album won’t be released for months apparently. This band encourages car pooling to their shows and part of the proceeds from their album sales are donated by Matador to very earth conscious charities. The Pix respects this, but prefers the music to the eco-politics.

1. The Pineapple Thief – “What Have We Sown?”, Thanks to the Anti-Hit List for this discovery. I really dig this band. This isn’t my favourite track by these guys and they don’t seem to have made a video yet. This fan video was made by a hip dad and his kid; he makes a lot of videos and sets them to pretty cool tunes. I remember a time when I thought marbles were pretty cool. Check out his YouTube page and the band’s MySpace page if this tickles you at all.
