6. Cornelius, I know most of you won’t listen to this all the way through, but I am obsessing over lo-fi recordings lately. If I understand correctly, this eclectic Japanese musician also created the video. Give it a chance, anyone who names themselves after a Planet of the Apes character can’t be all bad.
5. Caribou, I know a lot of bands make repeat performances on the Pix, but I’m a simple guy, I likes what I likes. These guys are on tour right now, their live shows are phenomenal and I love this video.
4. Black Kids, Band names are always interesting to me, but this one defies logic. You have to have big pants (as Drew Mac says) to have balls big enough to name your band this. This isn’t the best live recording, but holy crap do they sound like New Order and The Cure. They make me feel 14 all over again.
3. Pela, Another repeat offender on the Pix, these guys just make me happy. On really snowy days it’s nice to have a personal soundtrack in your head.
2. A Place to Bury Strangers, I’m starting to sound like a broken record with repeats here. The footage in this video is from a made for TV movie circa 1980 called “Lathe of Heaven”. It is a truly horrible film, but it looks cool with this music in the background. The movie was remade, poorly, in 2002 and starred Denise Huxtable.
1. The Raveonettes, Fourth repeat of the week, I must be losing my touch. However, I think this duo rocks and half naked girls and coke snorting in the video makes them so bad ass. I apologize for the bad grammar this week, I’m so very tired.

6. Tool, If you aren’t a big fan of this band or of math, then you probably won’t enjoy this clip too much. However, if you have nine minutes to have your mind blown, I highly recommend this.
5. The Raveonettes, These guys have just the right amount of noisy, Danish pop for me. The video is o.k., but it’s their Pixies meets Buddy Holly with a Phil Spector twist sound that got me hooked.
4. A Place to Bury Strangers, This band was at one point considered “the loudest band playing the indie scene in New York”. This video was shot with a webcam and edited in an RV; they drained the battery and borrowed a monster truck to jump it back to life.
3. Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Better known as Will Oldham, he appears in the Kanye West video from the very first Six Pix. You’ve probably heard him and seen him (he was in Junebug) a thousand times and just didn’t know it was him. Most importantly, Johnny Cash covered his “I See a Darkness”, which is a very haunting song.
2. Les Savy Fav, Making their second appearance on the Pix, apparently they’ve made a few albums, but this new one is the most “accessible”. My friend Matt is disappointed with their “new sound”, but both of us like dropping things from high places.
1. Super Furry Animals, Joining the second time on the Pix club too, this is just a really cute pop song. There will be a “Holiday” themed edition of the Pix (I’m still working on the logistics of it), but until then…here’s a taste.
If you have suggestions for the Holiday edition of Six Pix, please leave them below…No “Christmas Shoes”, that song makes me want to hurt people, especially children…
