Bigger Than Jesus Edition
6. Beirut, These guys were on all of my music geek friends “Best of 2007” lists. I have to admit I just got in to them this month. This version is quite different from the album, but just as fun.
5. Wilco, Believe it or not, I couldn’t find a suitable live version of this track. This fan video will have to do. I love the evolution of their music, although this is almost a throw back to the Beatles in 1969.
4. AaRON, This was an accidental find. It’s pretty spectacular cover though. If you go to their MySpace page, they have porn stars as “friends”.
3. M83, Adam Spiegel took a little time off his latest project to film this badass skate video. He always picks great music to accompany his vids. That’s not CGI kids!
2. Gutter Twins, Even though I’m aging faster than I would care to admit, I still dip back into the Sub Pop vault from time to time. This is the newest incarnation of Mark Lanegan (Screaming Trees) and Greg Dulli (Afghan Whigs).
1.The Local Tourists, Just a cute little ditty for someone’s special day. Thanks to Jesus for punching out when He did. (I’m going to get angry e mails about that.) If you check out their MySpace page you get let in on the inside joke.
