Out on a limb

6. Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies, Since their debut album, these guys have been pretty hit or miss with their follow ups. I like this one though, the celeb (and fake celeb) cameos are funny too.

5. The Grass Roots, My brother was really in to obscure 60’s bands growing up, so this really reminds me of him. Also, the lead guitarist (standing next to the drums) is famous now for different reasons. If you figure out who he is, I’ll be impressed.

4. UNKLE, I’ve always liked this D.J. Shadow side project and I didn’t really love his newest album, so this will tie me over until the next release.

3. Tunng, A good, straight up pop song. These guys are known for their ridiculous videos. The projection screen is a nice touch.

2. Architecture in Helsinki, Their second appearance in the Pix, I love the narrative during the video. Another great horn section. Pyros forever. More smoke machines.

1. The Hives, I’m sure this song will end up in a car commercial, but until then I’ll rock out in my living room to it. Pretty good “installation” video too.

6. Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, amazing band of brothers who apparently play
Chicago and New York for free.

5. Eugene McGuinness, I’m a sucker for kids music that drops the F bomb.

4. John Prine and Iris Dement, not a video, but the stage banter makes it
worth it.

3. Caribou, interesting fx, makes me want to build a fence. I think they
used to be called “Manitoba” and they’re from Ontario. They are touring
England with #2.

2. Architecture in Helsinki, reminds me of a video game I’d never finish.
Can you find the luck dragon?

1. The White Stripes, I heard this was shot in the Territories when they
were on tour. So simplistic and I have a crush on Meg.

There you go…
